Together, the Infant Core Connection courses provide a progressive framework for assessing and treating infants from the newborn period through the developmental journey toward walking.
The stabilization activity and dynamic movement patterns that emerge during the first three months provide an important foundation for later development. Assessment is grounded in developmental kinesiology and a detailed understanding of the anatomy and function of the deep stabilizing system. Course work integrates midline organization, fascial relationships and hands-on manual therapy application.
Core Courses 1–4 must be completed in sequence. Core Course 1 is delivered online, and all subsequent courses are taught in person. After completing Core Course 4, the Advanced Clinical Integration courses may generally be taken in any order.
Online Learning
Begin with flexible, clinically grounded study that builds essential knowledge in infant core control, stability, movement and milestone quality.
Core Course 1
The essential online prerequisite for all in-person Infant Core Connection courses. Six recorded sessions combine lecture, course outlines, laboratory demonstration and a quiz to establish a shared clinical foundation.
Topics include:
• Stabilization, the diaphragm and essential infant movement
• The abdominal intrinsic core and emergent stability
• Milestone development from 8 weeks to 7 months
• Deep neck flexors, convexities and three-month prone uprighting
• Neck asymmetries and midline orientation
Current recordings are available until March 2027 while the updated course is in development.
Core Course Series
The Core Course Series is a progressive, hands-on learning pathway for manual practitioners who want greater clarity and confidence in assessing and treating the young baby. Each course builds on the clinical reasoning, developmental kinesiology and treatment principles established in Core Course 1.
Core Course 2
A hands-on lab course that complements online Core Course 1. Emphasis is placed on the shoulder, clavicle, acromioclavicular joint, umbilicus and thoracolumbar fascia, including their intrinsic and extrinsic relationships. We study the 3–7 -month milestones of grasping, uprighting and rolling, with clinical integration through hands-on infant treatment.
Core Course 3
Emphasis is placed on the pelvis and pelvic floor, infant handling to facilitate positioning, and movement-based home education. We explore the 7–10 -month milestones of transitioning through quadruped and oblique sitting to sitting, crawling and pulling to stand, with clinical integration through hands-on infant treatment.
Core Course 4: Core Clinical Integration
An applied integration of the learning from Core Courses 1–3, with new labs for treating difficult and persistent areas of dysfunction. Practitioners assess and treat multiple infants with guidance and discussion while developing their manual skills and clinical decision-making.
All Core Courses must be taken in order. Core Course 3 is the prerequisite for Core Course 4.
Advanced Clinical Integration Courses
Advanced Clinical Integration courses deepen the relationship between specific anatomical regions and the infant’s core stabilization system. These intensive, laboratory-oriented courses include extensive hands-on experience with live infant treatment sessions and are designed for practitioners ready to take their assessment and treatment skills to the next level.
Advanced Clinical Integration 1
Core Connections: Scapula and Upper Extremity
Explore how the scapula and upper extremity relate to the core stabilization system as the older baby develops through uprighting and grasping milestones. Study associated rib-cage mechanics, mobility and stability, and advanced upper-extremity assessment through hands-on work with live infants.
Advanced Clinical Integration 2
Core Connections: Tongue, Jaw, Throat and Thorax
Develop an integrated understanding of the relationships among the palate, thorax, diaphragm, oral function, sinuses and tongue movement. This intensive, laboratory-oriented course focuses on latching, swallowing, breathing and creating the best possible dynamic for breastfeeding.
Advanced Clinical Integration 3
Core Connections: Vision, Upper Neck, Oral Cavity and Diaphragm
This course is currently in development and will deepen the material introduced in Advanced Clinical Integration 2. Completion of Advanced Clinical Integration Course 2 first is strongly recommended.
Advanced Clinical Integration 4
Core Connections: Pelvis and Lower Extremity
This course is currently in development.
Prerequisite for Advanced Clinical Courses: Core Course 4 — Core Clinical Integration.
Advanced Clinical Integration courses may be taken in any order.
CERTIFICATION COURSE
Certified Infant Core Connection Practitioner
Planned for 2029
A certification pathway for practitioners who have progressed through the Infant Core Connection course series is currently in development.
Proposed prerequisites:
• Completion of all Core and Clinical Integration courses
• Completion of the Foundational Core Course, currently under development

Future Advanced Clinical Courses for Osteopathic Manual Practitioners
Cranial and Biodynamic Integration
Future advanced courses in cranial and biodynamic integration are planned specifically for Osteopathic Manual Practitioners who hold the credentials required for membership in the Canadian Federation of Osteopaths.
Course material may include the integration of cranial osteopathy, biodynamics and visceral osteopathy within infant assessment and treatment.
Additional prerequisites may apply. Course details will be announced as they become available.

These courses are designed for manual practitioners who assess and treat infants in clinical practice. They are also valuable for practitioners with primarily adult practices who want greater confidence when babies are brought to their clinics.
Yes. Core Course 1 is the online prerequisite for all in-person courses. The Core Courses must be completed in order, with Core Course 3 required before Core Course 4. Core Course 4 is the prerequisite for the Advanced Clinical Integration courses.
